You can't change the world
while you're falling apart.

You care deeply about the work you do, the people you serve, and the world you're trying to create.

You don't have to keep sacrificing yourself to make a difference.

You understand your patterns.
So why do they keep running your life?

You know you're overfunctioning.

You know you say yes when you mean no. You know you take responsibility for things that aren't yours. You know you're exhausted from being the person everyone can count on.

You may even understand exactly where those patterns came from.

And yet, when someone is disappointed in you, when a colleague questions your competence, when someone needs something you don't have the capacity to give—there you are again.

Explaining. Fixing. Accommodating. Proving. Pushing through.

Because understanding a pattern intellectually isn't the same as being able to interrupt it when your body is convinced something important is at stake.

That's where our work begins.

Your survival strategies got you here.
They don't have to run what comes next.

Maybe being exceptional kept you safe.

Maybe anticipating everyone else's needs helped you maintain connection. Maybe staying three steps ahead was how you navigated environments where mistakes carried consequences other people never had to consider.

These patterns didn't develop in a vacuum. And not every threat your nervous system responds to is imaginary.

But strategies that once protected you can become costly when they operate automatically—even in situations where you have more choice than you realize.

Somatic coaching helps you recognize what's happening beneath the familiar reactions, expand your capacity to respond differently, and make choices that reflect who you are now—not only what you've had to survive.

Not by thinking harder.

By learning to work with your body, your nervous system, and the deeply practiced patterns that shape how you move through the world.

What becomes possible when you're no longer running on automatic?

Imagine being able to:

  • Set a boundary without spending the next three days questioning yourself.

  • Recognize when you're taking responsibility for something that isn't yours—and choose not to.

  • Stay connected to yourself when someone is disappointed, angry, or critical.

  • Make decisions based on your values rather than the urgency of proving your worth.

  • Lead, create, advocate, and care without making your own wellbeing expendable.

  • Notice an old pattern taking over and have the tools to respond differently.

This isn't about becoming less committed, less compassionate, or less ambitious.

It's about no longer confusing self-sacrifice with integrity.

Let's Reset Your BodyMindSet™

My approach brings together somatic psychology, nervous system awareness, and practical coaching to help you create change that goes deeper than insight alone.

We look at the patterns shaping your decisions, relationships, work, and sense of self.

We pay attention to what happens in your body when those patterns get activated.

And we practice new ways of responding that you can actually use in the moments that matter.

This is individualized work. There's no one-size-fits-all formula, no prescribed version of success, and no expectation that you should simply regulate yourself into tolerating circumstances that need to change.

Sometimes the work is learning to stay present.

Sometimes it's finding your voice.

Sometimes it's recognizing that the environment—not you—is the problem, and deciding what you're going to do about it.

The goal isn't to become better at enduring what hurts you.

It's to build a life in which your values and your wellbeing no longer have to compete.

Private Coaching:
12 Sessions to Change the Pattern

12 individual coaching sessions | $2,400 total | $200 per session

We begin by identifying what's keeping you stuck and what meaningful change would look like in your life.

From there, our work is shaped around your specific goals, patterns, and circumstances.

You bring your real life. We work with what's actually happening—not an idealized version of who you think you should be.

This is a committed coaching engagement, not a quick motivational boost. Twelve sessions give us room to understand the patterns, practice different responses, and begin integrating those changes into your daily life.

Let's find out if we're a good fit.

A free 15-minute consultation gives us a chance to talk about what you're navigating, what you're looking for, and whether my approach is right for you.

Meet Your Coach

Because I know what it's like to navigate systems and relationships that weren't designed with us in mind. And I know how much energy it takes to constantly anticipate, adapt, prove, protect, and persevere.

I don't believe the answer is to teach people to become better at surviving environments that are harming them.

I believe in helping people recognize which patterns are protecting them, which are costing them, and where they have the power to make different choices—without pretending that every threat is imaginary or every barrier is theirs to overcome alone.

One of my greatest strengths is recognizing patterns and putting words to feelings people have struggled to articulate. I bring that skill, my extensive training in somatic counseling psychology, and my lived experience as an intersectional person into coaching for people who care deeply about making a difference.

BodyRooted exists because I believe we can change the world without abandoning ourselves in the process.

I'm Tara Topper, founder of BodyRooted, a somatic psychology practitioner, licensed psychotherapist, clinical supervisor, educator, and coach.

For nearly two decades, I've worked with intersectional people navigating complex relationships, trauma, identity, leadership, and the ways our bodies adapt to the environments we live and work in.

In 2020, after spending a decade navigating toxic workplaces myself, I opened my private psychotherapy practice with a particular intention: to create a space where intersectional people could feel seen, heard, and understood without spending their sessions explaining the realities of their existence.

Coaching Is Not Psychotherapy

BodyRooted private coaching is a personal and professional development service. Although my coaching approach is informed by my professional training and experience in somatic psychology, coaching does not include mental health diagnosis or treatment and is not a substitute for psychotherapy or other healthcare services.

Coaching and psychotherapy are offered as distinct services with separate agreements and professional boundaries.

The world needs people who care.
It doesn't need you to disappear in the process.

You can stay committed to what matters without abandoning yourself.

Let's talk about what that could look like for you.
